Vladimir Efros
Vladimir founded Abundance Partners, LP in 2003 leveraging his macro outlook with his trading and equity market expertise to deliver an 11 year track record of 27.6% annualized return. From the fund’s inception, Vladimir took an opportunistic approach to investing, leading to the realization of opportunities in both the private and public markets. Beginning in 2007, Abundance Partners began to allocate a portion of capital to private deals, with its most successful private investment being as an early stage investor in Kickstarter. Seeing an increasing opportunity in the need to finance companies in early stage development but past the initial Angel stage, Vladimir and the Abundance Team launched Abundance Private Opportunity Fund, LP in February 2013. Vladimir currently serves on the advisory board for Lua Technologies, Ontraport, and Socure. He previously served as advisor to PV Evolution Labs and SpringTree Global Investors among others. Over his career Vladimir has always had a strong entrepreneurial and opportunistic philosophy. Prior to starting Abundance Partners, Vladimir founded The Batter’s Box, Bases Loaded, Final Frontier Productions, and Thick Freshie Records.
David Katona
Dave joined Abundance Partners in 2010 and is a cofounder of the Abundance Private Opportunity Fund. Prior to joining Abundance Partners, Dave co-founded Spruce Point Capital Management in 2008. Dave has spent his entire career working across numerous divisions within the capital markets. Dave was an investment analyst within the North American healthcare / technology industry for HCA Capital Partners/LSC Healthcare Partners from 2002 to 2004. From 2005 to 2008, Dave worked with AXA Financial as a Senior Associate. During college, Dave held two summer positions with UBS. Dave is a co-founder of NanoCare Technologies, Inc, a Board Member of The Arquin Corporation and an Advisor to Fame Theory, LLC. Dave is an active volunteer with numerous NYC based charities and is a member of the Milken Institute Young Leaders Circle. Dave graduated from Bates College with a BA in Political Science with a concentration in Economic Aspects and studied Government and Economics while at The University of London in England.
Dennis Shaya
Dennis joined Abundance in 2013 and is a member of our Investment Committee. Dennis is a 20 year industry veteran and brings a diverse background and expertise to the team. He has held positions with AXA Equitable in their qualified plan group. He was a partner in an SEC Registered Investment Advisor and founded Verity Capital a long/short equity fund in 2005. During the dot-com boom he was a leader in the business incubator of Ford Motor Company that made over $50MM in equity investments in outside businesses. He was also a founding member of WorldCrest Group, a $15MM KKR funded business exchange launched in 2000 and later sold to DSSI. Dennis began his career in Management Consulting with Deloitte and IBM Consulting Groups, covering a wide range of financial consulting and strategic topics for Fortune 500 companies. Dennis holds a BA in Management from Michigan State University and an MBA with concentration in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin.
James Dascoli
Jim joined Abundance Partners in February of 2010. He founded Azzinaro Management LLC in 2003, and launched the Azzinaro Emerging Equity Fund, LP in January 2004, where he served as the portfolio manager. The fund’s unique investment strategy involved investing in newly issued companies after they became public. From inception to the closing of the fund in 2008, it was up 62% versus 21% for the S&P over the same period, with 38 out of 47 months generating positive returns. In addition, Jim was a consultant to the Azzinaro Strategic Fund, a market neutral fund that focused on pairs trading in foreign stocks. Previously, Jim was the co-portfolio manager for 3 Sigma Partners from August 1998 through April 2003. Before working in the financial industry, Jim was a Project Engineer developing remediation strategies for contaminated waste sites. He has a BS in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College, a Master of Engineering from Manhattan College, and an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. From 2008 through 2009, Jim also restructured Garden State German Shepherd Rescue, a non-profit organization, serving as President.
